Around 4 every evening, I leave everything I’m up to and go rushing outside, taking the feedbox from the cupboard under the stairs and the keychain from the keys’ hanger right beside the main door. Then, pulling up my sleeves, I go to the bird cage, and there they are, ready as always, for me to fill up their feed bowls so that they can munch on their seeds while sitting inside the bowl. So, I gently unlock it, change their water, fill the two bowls with seeds, and lock it again (because of our neighbour’s cat, who’s always on the lookout to have a feathery Australian brunch).
